Charities We Support

We at SmartBizPractices and WoodyThings.com (our Wood Working business) are proud to provide a service to our customers and our community. Through the years we’ve been blessed with great family, friends and amazing customers. Whenever possible, we love to “give back” by helping others in their time of need.

As part of our commitment to give back to others, we volunteer our time and services to support local and international drives. Additionally, we are proud to be able to donate a portion of our profits to these charities:

Devil Dog USA Inc

“It is the mission, duty and purpose of Devil Dog USA Incorporated, to facilitate the Veteran transition process into the civilian sector. This will be achieved by engaging Veterans in physical activities and empowerment through attainment of resources.”

Trough this active participation, Pop Warner programs teach fundamentals values, skills and knowledge that children will use throughout their lives. The Waterbury Patriots Youth Football and Cheerleading objectives are to encourage and increase youth participation in FootballCheerleading and Dance. Ensure a Safe and Positive playing environment for all participants. Instill life-long values of TeamworkDedication and superior Work Ethic in the classroom and on the playing field.

We volunteer in and off-season as part of the assistant coaching staff, donate our time and money towards team functions, and more.

Connecticut Food Bank

The mission of the Connecticut Food Bank is to provide nutritious food to people in need.

We do this by supplying food products and resources to our member agencies, as well as through direct food distribution programs and by promoting public awareness about the problem of hunger.

We provide food and resources to a network of community-based food programs, such as soup kitchens, food pantries, shelters, residential programs and day programs serving adults and children in six of Connecticut’s  eight counties: Fairfield, Litchfield, Middlesex, New Haven, New London and Windham.

We assist by participating in local food drives and donating non-perishable foods throughout the year.

Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society

The Navy and Marine Corps Relief Society’s mission is to provide, in partnership with the Navy and Marine Corps, financial, educational, and other need-based assistance to active-duty and retired Sailors and Marines, their eligible family members, and survivors.

Having received assistance during our time in the Marine Corps, we know first hand the great work this organization provides. From creating our own budget to help during tough times, the Navy and Marine Corps Relief Society is a top notch organization providing for our troops. We contribute a portion of our salaries to this great organization.

These are but a few of the organizations we’re lucky to be able to assist, and there are many more we support any chance we get. Some examples are the Disabled American Veterans (DAV), the ALS Association (Remember the Ice Bucket Challenges?)Toys for Tots and the American Red Cross.

We understand we are a small company, but we hope any contribution and act of support we provide can help the great causes these organization’s are driving.
